The best part about volunteering at St. Joseph the Worker is the tangible connection between your effort and its outcomes. SJTW is not the smallest non-profit, but it is small enough that you can develop strong relationships with the staff and clients. These relationships helped instill in me a sense of professionalism that I have carried into my career in non-profit work.

There are always volunteer opportunities at STJW no matter what skillset a volunteer brings to the table. STJW works in job development, so someone with Human Resource experience is very valuable. However, if you have little or no experience in the world of employment, that's OK. You can always contact the Volunteer Coordinator or Program Director and he or she will schedule a time for you to come in and fix up the clothing closet- a task which is neither small nor unimportant. Meanwhile, you will learn a lot about job development for homeless and transitional persons and enjoy a sense of teamwork and collaboration.

And remember, there are so many volunteer opportunities right around the corner! If you have a good time at SJTW, schedule yourself to work in the kitchen at Andre House or St. Vincent de Paul.

Have fun!
