We Listen

What is "We Listen"?

“We Listen” is a growing commitment across the nonprofit sector to support feedback. “We Listen” is about starting a conversation with supporters, developing deeper relationships with them, and exploring the information they provide to help organizations grow, improve and excel. A rising number of foundations, for-profits, associations, and individuals are already showing their support for feedback and are receiving the benefits!

Why join "We Listen"?

Because you believe in feedback, of course! And because, most likely, your supporters do as well. Perhaps you are a Volunteer Coordinator who wants to let volunteers know that their thoughts matter (and that you’d like to hear them!). Or perhaps you are an Executive Director who wants to gather data that will assist you in making strategic decisions. Whatever the end goal, if you believe that the information provided by ratings can help you get there, then “We Listen” is for you!

How do I join?

There are two ways to join "We Listen": as a Partner or as an Organization.

Partners can be foundations, associations, consultants or any other type of organization that essentially works for, or with, other nonprofits. Partners encourage feedback among their organizations/members/clients and work with them to interpret the feedback and implement it. For more information on becoming a “We Listen” Partner, click here.

Organizations are individual nonprofit organizations who want to encourage their supporters to provide feedback.  Organizations post a "We Listen" badge to their site.  Then, we post a corresponding badge to their page on insideGOOD .  When supporters come to rate on insideGOOD, they will see the matching badge and know that the organization is actively listening to their feedback.

To get a "We Listen" Badge, follow these 3 easy steps:

First, from your organization’s page on insideGOOD, choose your badge. Click Tools then Get a “We Listen” badge. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Next, post the badge to your site using the image attachment that will be sent to you via email.

Finally, click on the Verification Link in the email and let us know where you’ve posted the badge.

That’s it! You will now be part of the “We Listen” community.

What is expected of “We Listen” organizations?

A “We Listen” organization enthusiastically welcomes feedback from supporters. Organizations listen to ratings, respond to raters professionally and sincerely, and try to incorporate the feedback wherever possible.

Once you’ve posted your badge, a great way to start doing this is to invite others to rate and/or to sign-up to be notified of ratings. From your organization’s page, click Invite/Tell Others or Notify Me. Follow the instructions on-screen and you’ll be on your way in just a few minutes.

What are the benefits of joining?

By listening to ratings, you encourage them. And ratings on insideGOOD can result in more authentic relationships with supporters, data you can use to make more impactful decisions, distinctive testimonials for solicitation materials, a recruiting tool that works 24-hours/day…shall we go on?

In addition to the benefits of ratings, as a “We Listen” organization, you will be ranked among our Super Users; organizations who understand the goals of feedback and are our most valued customers. You will be the first to learn about insideGOOD offerings and specials. You’ll be given opportunities to submit requests about what you’d like to see on the site. And, perhaps most importantly, you will be part of a community of ‘listening organizations’ that shares important lessons and best practices.

How should you respond to particular ratings? What are some great ideas for implementing feedback? We’ll collect knowledge from the community and disseminate it, helping you stay informed and on top of the trends.

How much does it cost?

Not a penny. Just like rating and viewing ratings on insideGOOD, this program is completely free of charge. This is entirely about spreading support for feedback.
